Falko Gotz 18 years after the death of FC-Star Banach

Cologne --
In Falko Götz (47) of these days turn back sad memories. Memories of the painful loss of a teammate at the 1 FC Cologne. On 17 Died November 1991 FC striker Maurice Banach († 24) on the way to training. Gotz (most recently coach of Holstein Kiel) remembers 18 years later:
"The parallels to Robert Enke is great because it happened so unexpectedly."
The Mucki, like all the young striker called, had scored in 49 games 24 goals. A day after the game against Schalke, he crashed his car on the A1 at Wermelskirchen against a bridge abutment. Banach burned.
At the 1 FC Cologne collapsed in a world. Goetz: "With Heinz Baumann, a pastor came to us from Aachen, who was also FC fan. He took over the conversation and we have grieved together. We are then driven to the accident site and have placed flowers there. "The return to the daily business was tough.
Goetz: "They have no sense of football, martial arts do not come into question. In the first game after that the looseness was missing. It has also motives: We wanted to tuck us for Mucki. What a stroke of fate can unite a team - that was definitely FC it. "
l The soccer player Adam Ledwon († 34, then Austria Carinthia, previously Fortuna Cologne and Bayer Leverkusen), hanged himself in June 2008 at his home. With psychologists, the shock was worked up. With success. "Only by Adams death, we became a team," said Mr Patrick Wolf.
l The ice hockey team of the Cologne Sharks broke the other hand, the fate of their goalkeeper Robert Müller († 28, died) with a brain tumor. The club missed the playoffs for the first time. Defender Mirko Ludemann, "The Brutale is the most professional business that you must be fully there at the kick-off, otherwise you just conceded defeat."
